Leading Your Sales Team To Total Commitment
It seems like every year we’re forced to do more and more with less and less resources. Budgets, for instance, seem to get the first squeeze, and one of the obvious places to cut is your training investments.
National Youth Crisis Hotline: 800-442-HOPE (4673). Provides counseling and referrals to local drug treatment centers, shelters, and counseling services. Responds to youth dealing with pregnancy, molestation, suicide, and child abuse. Operates 24 hours, seven days a week.
This is where many Sales Managers (and managers in general) could utilize the “Manage Up” philosophy. Managing up is very similar to downward managing. The difference being, you are managing your managers/superiors as opposed to managing subordinates. Your time is valuable and you need to manage it properly to maximize your value to your organization. Interruptions to your short and long term game plan are inevitable. We generally think of these interruptions coming in the form of subordinates breaking our stride with mundane questions or fires to put out. We expect this and Management Training course after Proteus Leadership course teaches us how to deal with these issues. But has anyone ever trained us to deal with the frequent interruptions of our superiors? Let’s look at this concept.
Give praises and encouragement openly and often. You are not training your child for the Academy of the Arts. You are giving the energetic self a way to play off excess energy. Positive encouragement is the best way to keep this self preoccupied. Any creation, even if it is half made, is worthy of positive comment. The child is making something out of nothing and that in itself is noteworthy.
To have higher chances of success, there are 4 things you need to do. These principles are not only applicable in Project Management but also to other certification programs you might want to take later on.
Some circumstances require that you coach quickly. You can concentrate on the goal and the topic in these situations. Yet other situations will require you to spend time to discuss more steps and focus on other skills.
Consider committing to writing your purpose, vision and values. Then and only then, craft an action plan that looks at both your professional and personal lives. The results will truly surprise you.
