Diwali Greetings and Images

The bright festival of lights would be incomplete without the tasteful Diwali lanterns decorating in the homes, offices and shops. Diwali greetings begin with the planning and preparations for the Diwali 2011 festival. The entire process starts many days before the festive season actually begins.

Of course shopping for the right elements for the Diwali celebrations is the most important part of the Diwali decorating process. The significance of Diwali is always embodied in the lights or lanterns. Here is what you will need to complete your Diwali decorations easily and tastefully:

Fixing and cleaning: Diwali comes after the rainy season is over and there’s still a nip in the air indicating the onset of the coming winter. It’s the best time to start cleaning your house from top to bottom. Remove the cobwebs, clean the lights and fans, replace broken fixings, clean the lampshades and do those small renovations around the house. A clean house is the first step for preparing the Diwali decorations.

Furnishings: Once you are done with the cleaning it’s time to change the cushion covers, replace the curtains with freshly washed or new ones and of course, change the bed sheets. This will give your house a fresh look.

Lights: Diwali night is all about lights. Go shopping for beautiful Diwali lanterns (diyas), candles and lamps and use them both inside and outside the house. You can use the lights in every corner of your home to drive away the darkness. Replace your lampshades with paper lamps and lanterns that will throw interesting patterns on the walls and generally add color to the whole house.

Torans are also essential for Diwali. You can use the door garlands made from fresh flowers or the artificial ones (which will last longer) on your doors as a welcome.

Layout the welcome mat with interesting Rangoli patterns on your door. You can use powdered colours to make the patterns. Alternatively, you can get creative and use flower petals, rice grains or even a mix of all those to add a personal touch.

Don’t forget to order fresh flowers for decorations in advance for Diwali preparations. Roses and marigolds are commonly used flowers. However depending on your taste you can use orchids, jasmines, china flowers or any other kind of flower easily available from your nearest market.

Beautiful flower arrangements will add a fresh and festive touch to every room in the house making for the freshest Diwali Greetings.
